SPL Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month

post by Christopher Brown

With October being the official month for promoting breast cancer awareness, a few of the employees at the Lafayette facility decided to get active. They are participating in the Second Annual Save Ze Ta Ta’z Art Bra Decorating Contest. Each of the ladies decorated a bra with a theme and have donated it to the organization to raise money for the Institute of Breast Health. All art bras will be on display at this week’s Breast Health Symposium in Lafayette and then auctioned at the gala next week.

SPL Sells Manufacturing Facility to Dralco Systems

SPL Announces Partnership with Dralco Systems

SPL Refocuses on Petroleum & Environmental Service Offerings by Selling Fabrication Division

HOUSTON (24-7PressRelease.com) September 30, 2010– Southern Petroleum Laboratories, Inc., a recognized leader in oil and gas measurement, allocations, auditing, and laboratory services for the environmental and hydrocarbon industries, is pleased to announce its agreement to sell the assets of its fabrication division to Dralco Systems, LLC of Weatherford, TX. Working in partnership with SPL, Dralco Systems will assume the existing fabrication services.

Dralco Systems, a privately held fabrication company specializing in the fabrication of gas measurement equipment, precision sheet metal fabrication, and laser cutting, has been successfully delivering quality precision products for over 27 years. Their full range of fabrication services compliments the current offerings of SPL’s fabrication division.

This partnership will allow SPL to focus on its core businesses –laboratory and oil field services. “This venture will allow us to continue providing the same quality precision products that our clients have depended on since the inception of the fabrication division in 2006,” said Herb Brown, CEO and President of SPL.

“In a short period of time, we’ve seen a significant growth in our fabrication division,” said Robert Bienvenu, SPL’s Vice President of Sales. “SPL chose to partner with Dralco Systems, LLC due to their already established fabrication services in the industry.” Mike Manson, and Jim Gopffarth of Dralco Systems, LLC offer years of experience in the fabrication of gas measurement equipment. “We will be working closely with the SPL team for a smooth transition and look forward to forming long-term relationships with all of SPL’s clients.”

Well Done Lowell Chapman

post by Christopher Brown

Lowell Chapman is the manager of the SPL field office in Carencro, LA and now he can add business development to his long list of accomplishments with SPL.

Lowell saw an opportunity to develop a new service for SPL working offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and he took it. SPL's new petroleum service offering is called pipeline surveillance, and it will help ensure the environmental safety of pipeline laterals in the Gulf of Mexico. We are now certified for this service - thanks to Mr. Chapman - and will be offering it to our producer clients in the Gulf.

Lowell, thanks for all that you do for SPL. Very well done on developing this new service.

Until next time, c.

SPL's New Payroll System

post by Crystal Ash - HR Manager

We are pleased to announce that we will be changing payroll providers effective on your October 7, 2010 paycheck. Our payroll provider will be changing from ADP to Perquest. This change will bring many new and exciting features. The most notable for employees is the Employee Self Service (ESS) portal. ESS will allow you to easily access your personal information online 24/7 and will put you in control of your own information. With ESS you will have access to your personal information, pay history, earnings, deductions, taxes, direct deposit information, time off accruals, and company contact information. One large change to be aware of is that you will no longer receive paper pay stubs, as you will now be able to view and print your own paystub online through ESS. You will be notified via e-mail when you have a paystub available for viewing. (Please note that we WILL be sending out paper paystubs for our first payroll run with Perquest. All subsequent paystubs are to be viewed online through your ESS account). If you currently receive live paychecks, your check will be mailed to your home address via regular mail 3 days prior to payday. We strongly urge all employees to sign up for direct deposit to avoid any delays in receiving your pay. It is the employee’s responsibility to review their paystub on October 7th to check for correctness. If you find any discrepancies please notify Payroll and/or HR immediately. If you have any questions on how this change will affect you, please feel free to give Renay Garcia or myself a call!

I Miss You

Hi Everyone,

Once again I've been neglecting our little blog. Mia culpa, mia culpa.

I'd love to tell you all of the excuses that I'm thinking of...Apollo the Wonder Dog ate my blog post maybe?

The truth is that I haven't made our little blog a priority. For that I apologize.

I'm going to do a better job posting more often. Also, remember that you can send me a guest post via e-mail at cbrown@spl-inc.com.
