Hello World (again)

I’ve got many goals for SPL. One is to improve our communication within the organization. I haven’t quite figured out how I’m going to measure that improvement beyond word-of-mouth inquiry, but I’m at least going to do that.

We Are SPL is the first attempt we have made as an organization to use blogging as a way to communicate with our employees. In theory, I like the blog medium because it allows for two-way communication. In other words, it’s not static like a memo. I can put an idea out and get word back from you.

Let’s start with ground rules. Post whatever you want to post here on We Are SPL. I picked the Tumblr platform so you could post text, photos, audio, and video.

I will be the administrator, so I’m going to see what you say. If you have ideas, share them. If you have criticisms, voice them. When you do criticize I’d prefer to hear an idea for improvement to go with it, but if criticism’s all you’ve got then that’s ok.

I won’t delete posts or comments unless they are abusive or vulgar. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated on this blog. If you wouldn’t do or say it in front of your mom or your kids, then don’t behave that way here.

Bear with me as I’m near the bottom of the learning curve with blogging, and please forgive me for mistakes I make. Most of them will be out of ignorance, a few may be out of stupidity.

Best,

c.
